Mycelium Muse

Mycelium Muse is a collection of uniquely organic furniture pieces by biomaterials company MycoWorks using its new mushroom-based leather, Reishi™. Our campaign showed brands & designers how they can use Reishi to bring sustainability and unconventional style to the world of luxury interiors.

Introducing the Designers

“We were astonished by the creativity of the designers to elevate the material.” – Dezeen

The collection was designed by seven emerging French creatives who were selected for their commitment to sustainability and distinctly artistic approach. To preview the collection, we visited each designer’s studio to capture their creative process as they discovered this brand new medium for design.

I led the video project from San Francisco, while the series was shot by a talented young filmmaker I sourced in Paris. I wrote the creative brief, directed the editorial process, and produced motion graphics and social media packaging for the series.

The Paris Debut

“Mycelium inspires today’s designers to create virtuous objects at the intersection of nature and art.” – Architectural Digest

We launched with a special exhibition at Design Miami: Paris, staged at the opulent Hôtel de Maisons. Our elevated style of production & content design garnered significant press coverage for the debut, and social media shares by prominent designers and personalities.

I was onsite as filmmaker, focused on capturing the wonder felt by designers, brand executives, and high-end design customers as they discovered this unique new material and collection.

The Collection

“We feel a growing passion for MycoWorks, the company inspiring beauty with fungal-based biomaterials.” – Wallpaper* Design Award

We presented the full collection online with an inspirational message to brands & designers: New materials enable new aesthetics, and Reishi™ is the best material to expand your creative vision sustainably. We showcased the collection’s rough-hewn look that embodies the fungal origins of Reishi™, while the material’s durability was shown through the variety of fabrication methods used by the designers to create each piece.
